IT FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK IN THE GYM.

I went a little too long without lifting, and I'm paying for it. I knew that my strength had decreased in my upper body over the past year, but I didn't think I had lost much in my legs. Legs are still strong, but the muscle endurance is a big factor. It will all come with time.

I'm doing a program I got from Kent last winter, and I'm going to do it religiously this year. Last winter I pretty much just sat around and gained fat. This winter I'll be doing my program, watching what I eat, and hitting the trainer a few days a week. Right now I'm just concentrating on getting my weight down, and I'll hit the bike hard once I get it down. To supplement losing the bike everyday I'm back to playing racquetball, and running. I can still run a mile in a decent time for myself. 9 mins is good for me. I'm not a runner, so that's about all I got right now. I would like to do a 6 when I'm back down to fighting weight, and I've done that before, and I think I can do it again.

Before my accident I weighed 180lbs. and played racquetball 4-5 days per week. I was really on top of my game, and I want to be there again. I have an extremely long way to go, but I am dedicated and I want to show what I am capable of. There's no stopping me NOW!

Hey Matt, thanks for putting up with a bunch of knit-picky roadies at the shop tonight. You were a great help. Hope you can make some of the Shabbos(+1) rides once the weather's nicer and we can leave early. Nothing like a long steady ride to melt away the calories. I would be seriously scared to hit a gym again. I'd be suffering doing bench-presses with 5s on the bar. I'm so weak, upper body wise. I know I should do something about that and my core. Maybe I should take up rock climbing. That's like full body endurance right? And fun too right? Ugh...

what accident?

The accident where I separated my AC joint and was off the bike for six months. I had it about 6 months before I started working at TrekO.

No problem putting up with you guys. I used to deliver room service, that teaches you to deal with whiny people. haha. I can ride on Shabbos, just not Shabbos+1. My legs are strong, but I need to get a little more balance in myself to be a better rider. That's why racquetball is fun. It just works your core the whole time because of constantly turning your body to put power in shots. Plus, it is a way better aerobic workout than just running around a track/treadmill, which are boring as hell.
