Interesting Week.

So this has been an interesting week in the world of cycling. Discovery pulls sponsorship, which seems odd considering the year they are about to have. All 3 grand tours and Paris-Roubaix. Anyway I'm sure AMD will step up or another big American company. Maybe Motorola will get back in the game. Probably not, but just as well. Tyler Hamilton returned to racing. I'm actually glad to see him back. Hopefully we won't have to hear about his dead dog this time around. Floyd is being denied access to some of his tests by the USADA, and that is not good. I hope he is found not guilty and allowed to return to racing. SRAM has to recall some of their road bike brakes because of faulty materials. The Tour of Missouri announced their route. They are starting in KC on Sept. 11 and finishing in St. Louis. Big days for the Trek Stores and I'm going to hopefully go to KC on the 11th to see the start of the race. I am definitely excited about that. On a personal level, I will be moving to Highgear progressively in the next few weeks, full-time. I am very excited about this opportunity because it allows me to immerse myself more in what I love, road bikes, while providing a door into which I hope to build my future. I do not hide that bikes are my life, but I want to turn it into my career and this move gives me an opportunity to excel and advance.

later on,
Matt

Discovery pulling out is interesting. Is AMD an american company? If no one steps up for sponsorship, there's one less USA team in europe, with already too few.
So I wonder when all those DNA tests are supposed to happen? I think they should compare Ullrichs, Bassos, and Hamiltons DNA to the blood they found in the Operacion Puerto deal sooner than later. That would finally give a definitive answer for all of them.

Landis, I'm hoping, will be found innocent. We're running out of American heros that can dominate the sport. Hincapie keeps breaking stuff, falls off his bike, or gets taken out. Danielson is still learning and, since he definitely has bad days, isn't doping like the rest of the peloton. Zabriskie is the man at TTing but needs to learn how to climb. Maybe Bobby J will have a breakthru (possible final) year. If he were to win a few big races, I can see him calling it day and going out on top.
Who knows. It's a crazy sport, that cycling.

AMD is an American company, and they have been working with trek the past few years on research and aerodynamics for Lance and CO. Bobby J will win Paris-Nice. Zabriskie will do pretty well in California and the Prologue of the tour, which will go to David Millar.

I have to many 'what if's?' or 'what could have been?' rooting around my life, and I don't want anymore.
